Five years have passed since the International Court of Justice (ICJ) issued its legally binding provisional measures order to protect the Rohingya. Tragically, ‘never again’ has become ‘yet again’.
This latest report from Burmese Rohingya Organisation UK details numerous human rights violations, many of which constitute atrocity crimes, including acts of genocide perpetrated by the Myanmar armed forces against the Rohingya and war crimes carried out by the Arakan Army. In 2024, several thousand more Rohingya, including forced conscripts, are believed to have been killed in the conflict in Rakhine State and at least 70,000 more have fled to Bangladesh.
The report calls on the UK to convene an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council to uphold the ICJ’s binding orders, and on Bangladesh to open up an emergency humanitarian aid corridor.
