The Lift the Ban coalition of over 200 non-profit organisations, think tanks, businesses, trade unions and faith groups, is calling on the UK Government to give people seeking asylum and their adult dependants the right to work after they have waited six months for a decision on their claim. Now, they have to wait over a year, can only work if there is a skill shortage in their profession, and have to live on just £5.66 per day while they wait.
Burma Campaign UK is a member of the Lift the Ban coalition. This new report by the coalition shows why lifting restrictions on the right to work would benefit both asylum seekers and the whole community.
