In 2020, freedom of speech and expression in Burma has declined month on month. 601 individuals are now oppressed due to political activity. 42 political prisoners are serving sentences, 196 are awaiting trial inside prison and 363 are awaiting trial outside prison.
In December, 6 people were arrested and 7 were charged. 3 people were sentenced and 7 people were released. 28 people were arrested by ethnic armed organisations and 4 people were released by an ethnic armed organisation. Two political prisoners are in bad health.
