“You cannot ignore us” – Network for Human Rights Documentation

May 14, 2019

Victims of human rights violations outline their desires for justice in this report, compiled by the Network for Human Rights Documentation Burma (ND-Burma), whose members include a range of ethnic nationalities, women, and former political prisoners.

ND-Burma and its Reparations Working Group have conducted the first ever victim needs assessment in Burma, examining 111 cases of human rights violations over the period 1970-2017 across 11 states and regions.

The findings of this report and ND-Burma’s 14 years’ experience of documenting human rights violations first-hand show that Burma urgently needs a wide-ranging reparations programme to help victims repair their lives and kickstart a real national reconciliation.
