Italian Thai Development Public Company LTD (ITD)

Italian Thai Development Public Company LTD (ITD) were removed from the Dirty List in May 2021 after confirmation that they have withdrawn from all the projects.

Background

Italian Thai Development Public Company LTD (ITD)

The Italian Thai Development Public Company is a Thai infrastructure company that was involved in three controversial projects in Burma linked to human rights and environmental concerns. The proposed coal mine in Karen State, currently suspended, was met with strong opposition from civil society, and another in Shan State. It was also a developer of the Dawei Special Economic Zone, which has led to forced evictions without proper compensations, lost livelihoods and widespread local environmental destruction. There has not been proper transparency or public consultation about the zone, and Environmental Impact Assessments have been deeply flawed.
