PROTEST AT BURMESE EMBASSY,

Glenys Kinnock MEP will be joining a protest at the Burmese Embassy demanding the release of Aung San Suu Kyi and all political prisoners in Burma.
Aung San Suu Kyi was arrested on May 30th after a pro government militia attacked a convoy she was travelling in. It is feared up to 100 of her supporters were massacred in the attack.
The protest is being organised by Burmese exiles in London, the Burmese Democratic Movement and Free Burma Coalition.
Glenys Kinnock MEP said: “The massacre and the continuing and rising levels of repression in Burma, along with the failure of the regime to respond to UN mediation, demands an urgent response from the UN Security Council. It is time for targeted UN sanctions banning arms and investment to Burma, and banning the export of Burmese oil, gas, timber, gems and garments. It is time to cut the lifeline to this regime”.
