Burma Campaign UK is calling on the international community to mobilise to create an urgent task force to help tackle religious violence in Burma.
Burma Briefing No.19: An international task force Is needed to help tackle growing religious violence in Burma, contains a detailed analysis of some of the underlying causes of anti-Muslim violence in the country.
“The anti-Muslim violence in Burma can’t be dealt with as a question of law and order or arresting a small number of high profile individuals inciting hatred and violence,” said Mark Farmaner, Director of Burma campaign UK. “Anti-Muslim prejudice in Burmese society needs to be addressed. Burma is a multi-racial multi-religious country, but too many people in Burma do not accept or understand this.”
