About the company

Bharat Freight Group/A to Z EXIM Private Limited

Bharat Freight is an Indian shipping and logistics company. In Burma it is the operator of the controversial Sittwe Port in Rakhine State. The port is part of the Indian-backed Kaladan multi-modal development project. Since its inception more than ten years ago, the Kaladan project has led local civil society and human rights organisations to raise concerns about the environmental and human rights impact, including land confiscation and use of new roads by the military to increase militarisation, as well as increased militarisation for security building the projects. The National Unity Government and others have opposed new development projects agreed with the illegitimate military.
