There are 248 individuals oppressed in Burma due to political activities. 54 political prisoners are serving prison sentences, 74 are awaiting trial inside prison, 120 are awaiting trial outside prison.
In March, 39 people were arrested. Of these, 37 were arrested by Ethnic Armed Groups (EAGs); 21 by the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and 16 by the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army. A further two people were arrested by authorities.
Five people were charged this month. Three people were sentenced. 34 people were released; five by authorities and 29 by EAGs (27 by a Karen Armed Group and 2 by the KIA).
