As Burma’s pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi spends her 58th birthday under arrest, up to 100 protesters are expected to join the Burmese community on a protest outside the House of Commons.
The protesters will be demanding the release of Aung San Suu Kyi and all political prisoners in Burma.
At 12.30 they will march to Downing Street, where they will deliver a letter to Tony Blair asking him to do more to support their struggle for freedom. Campaigners are calling on Britain to push for action at the UN Security Council.
184 MPs have signed an Early Day Motion calling on the government to implement targeted investment sanctions against the regime.
