Today a portrait of Aung San Suu Kyi featured in a high profile art project in central London’s Trafalgar Square.
The project is the idea of famous British sculptor Antony Gormley. There is a spare statue base in Trafalgar Square and for 100 days people can be living statues for one hour.
Burma Campaign UK supporter Barbara Illingworth took part in the project to help raise awareness about Aung San Suu Kyi and Burma’s political prisoners.
She stood on the statue base from 8-9am today holding a picture of Aung San Suu Kyi painted by Burmese artist and former political prisoner Htein Lin. She told onlookers about Aung San Suu Kyi and Burma’s political prisoners and called for their release.
The art project is also being filmed and shown on the websitehttp://www.oneandother.co.uk
