Saw Kyaw Naing Win and Lay Naing

Saw Kyaw Naing Win and Lay Naing are activists who work with factory workers and farmers. Saw Kyaw Naing Win is also a lawyer who helps with labour rights issues.
They were arrested in May 2020 after being accused of taking part in a labour protest calling for the closure of the factories in Bago Industrial Zone during COVID-19, and of criticising the Bago Division Government for not helping factory workers. They were charged under Section 505 (b) for destabilizing state tranquillity, and Section 66 (d) of the Telecommunications Law for defamation.
They were sentenced to two years in prison by the Bago Township Court in October. They are currently serving their prison sentences in Bago Prison.
