There are 236 individuals oppressed in Burma due to political activities. 46 are currently serving prison sentences, 52 are awaiting trial inside prison, 138 are awaiting trial outside prison.
In December, eight people were arrested, two of whom were subsequently released; however, the rest are still being held under unknown charges. The joint Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) arrested and released seven civilians for unknown reasons.
This month, twelve people were charged; five people were sentenced, and five people were released.
